Why does the Interlibrary Loan Department cancel your ILLiad journal request?

Why does the Interlibrary Loan Department cancel your ILLiad request for a journal article when your own search for electronic access fails? It may be because the library owns the paper copy of the journal. This is especially frustrating if you've spent time following links, hoping to find an electronic full-text version of the article, but came to a dead end.

To check the catalog, type the name of the journal into the search box, and click "periodical title." You will see the list of volumes owned by the library.
