Open WorldCat and Google Books

A new library catalog option gives you the choice to run a search in the Open WorldCat and Google Books finding tools.

Open WorldCat is access to the First Search database, WorldCat, which is familiar to many of you, but is being made openly available from the web. Open WorldCat checks for ownership of materials from other libraries, including local public and academic libraries. Google Books is the popular search engine's effort to provide access to full and limited views of digitized books that have been contributed by libraries and publishers. Both these finding tools will be a quick way to expand your access to information beyond the ISR library collection and can be used along with the EZ Borrow and ILLIAD interlibrary loan services.

We encourage your feedback and questions about the catalog. Please send your comments and questions to Isabella O'Neill at ioneill@bucknell.edu.

Students: Where do I find my phone number?

Telephone numbers are permanently assigned to university owned rooms. The number is located on the jack designated with a black "voice" icon. You can also locate your phone number by visiting http://www.isr.bucknell.edu/directory/

Short term lockers available in the library

Do you want somewhere to store your books or laptop in the library? There are twenty lockers available for three day loan periods. Ask at the circulation desk if you are interested in reserving a locker.

Lost and found in the library

Lost your keys? Missing your cellphone? Misplaced your flash drive? If you are missing items, stop by the reference desk, or call x71462. The reference desk has a large number of found items just waiting for their owners to reclaim them.

Students: Need library research help? Try working one-on-one with ISR librarians

Students, did you know that ISR's librarians are available to work one-on-one with you with your research topic or project? At any stage of your research, librarians are available to you as a resource.

To schedule an appointment, use the online form at http://www.bucknell.edu/script/isr/ResearchAppointment/. You may also choose to schedule an appointment with a librarian with a subject focus related to your major or minor at http://www.bucknell.edu/script/ISR/Directory/LiaisonList.asp .

For more information or questions, contact the Reference/Information Desk (x71462, refdesk@bucknell.edu).
