To get here, we took a very old and very tattooed school bus that apparently has been around for a while. We drove through urban Managua and saw a lot of streetside businesses and people actually standing in between lanes on the street trying to sell everything from water to handcrafts. Along the way, we got an unwanted windshield cleaning and got passed by several cars when our bus struggled to make it up a hill. But we got to JHC and were greeted by Mike Woodard and company.
He is an extremely relaxed guy and made sure we knew that joking was the only way he was going to communicate with anyone. After an introduction to JHC we changed some money into the local cordoba and then had a delicious dinner of chicken and vegetable stir-fry with rice and another veggie dish. All of the food was delicious.
Julie, Meghan and I introduced ourselves to Mike and he told us he would possibly be walking with us up the hill the day that we go to El Porvenir. What is too bad is that he made arrangements so everyone else at El Porvenir will get to pick coffee that day, which would have been fun to do. But I guess you can't really top hiking up and down a mountain! Right?
It is hot and humid here and I just won a heated game of UNO with a tiebreaker rocks, paper, scissors. Just throw rock. That's all there is to it. Night!
