Tomorrow is the big day! I am so anxious just to get on the plane and find out what flying is like. Plus I am wondering what New Orleans will look like since the hurricane last year. We already know that 100% of Saint Bernard’s Parish was flooded and only 10% of the population has returned.
It’s over a year since the hurricane. It will be a long flight down with a lay-over of nearly 3 hours in Atlanta. I've been told that the airport is like a mall. After we reach the airport in New Orleans we'll take vans to Camp Hope. They too are anxious for our arrival. Our days will be clean up from 7 a.m. till 3 p.m. At night we can either go into the city or relax with some of the locals that come to Camp Hope for dinner. I plan on doing both. For me this experience will be to help the victims of Katrina and to make new friendships with the people of Saint Bernard’s Parish and those of us going from Bucknell.
More later, Barb
