It is early Saturday morning. Breakfast will come along in about half an hour, then we do a group photo, pile on the bus, and start the long journey home. It is long in every sense of the word. Not only are our blogs unable to capture the experience for you, be prepared for looks of consternation and bafflement when you see us in person and ask, "How was it?"
But here are 10 things about Nicaragua that I can tell you...
10. There are no traffic laws in Nicaragua, only traffic 'suggestions'.
9. There are very few street signs, so people navigate nearly exclusively by landmark ... and this is a BIG city.
8. Yes, you can sweat much more fluid than you can drink in any unit of time.
7. Nicaraguans are among the most gracious people in the world.
6. The U.S. has made and continues to make a very big mess of things here.
5. No, most of us don't know what the term "hard work" really means.
4. Rice, beans, and macaroni taste very good for breakfast, much better than a McAnything.
3. It is possible to double one's weight over the course of a day by adding grime and grit.
2. The less you have, the less you need.
1. Brigadistas have received so much more than we have given in our time here.
Hasta pronto!
