Days 10-12: The End is Not Near, It's Here

Well it's Day 16, I'm back in Lewisburg, PA and I couldn't be missing Beijing anymore right about now. Now I know what you're thinking right about now, "If it's Day 16, why are you back at school and not watching the Closing Ceremonies from an ENG position (camera platform) inside the Bird's Nest. Good question readers, and one that can be very easily answered. My mom didn't want me to miss any class. Ugh. But who am I to complain, I had an experience that most kids my age would kill for so I refuse to be bitter. Here is a recap of my last few days in Beijing. Sorry for the delay in this entry being posted, I forgot to press publish when I was done.

Days 6-9: Thank God for Gymnastics and 120 kg Men

Sorry that it's been so long since my last entry. I've had negative time to write lately but I finally have a few hours to spare so here I am. Over the past few days I've been to men's Greco-roman wrestling, women's all-around gymnastics, men's track cycling, track and field, men's soccer and I thought I was going to make it 4 days without seeing a Chinese gold medal until we went to rowing and they won their most unlikely event yet. Ugh, I'm just exhausted typing all that, and I apologize if you are too after reading this extra-long entry.

Over the past three days I have been to women's trap shooting, men's and women's team gymnastics, women's judo and women's 10 meter platform diving and watched the Chinese pad their Gold medal lead over the United States.

Day 1 and 2 (of games): tragedy strikes amidst American triumph

On the first official day of games, I went to the women's individual saber competition and watched the Americans pull off something that has never been done in their history, and on the second I took a tour of some of the most famous historical sites that China has to offer. Meanwhile, a blanket of sadness was draped over the games as news of an American fatality swept the grounds.

So this is Beijing

Ni hao! I arrived in Beijing a few days ago and I have now had a few full days to soak in the Chinese culture, if you call Kentucky Fried Chicken, Ferrari dealerships and traffic typical Chinese culture.

Off to the Beijing Olympics

Judgment day is only one day away. Tonight I am getting all my supplies together for my trip to Beijing, China, to work with an independent film crew behind the scenes of the 2008 Summer Olympics and trying to predict what exactly these next 20 days are going to have in store for me.
